Disparities Between Muscle & Tendon Growth Rates, Tendinopathies & Sport-Specific Strength Training Programs

This video, by Dr. Vizniak, of ProHealthSys, discusses the disparities between muscular and tendinous growth rates, Tendinopathies and other tendon injuries – and the long-term effects of sport-specific strength training programs.

Comparing the forearms of the Power Lifter and Rock Climber, Dr. Vizniak explains how the disparate, long-term demands of these two activities have resulted in very obvious tendon differences.

The forearm musculature of the two men appears similar – but the tendons of the Rock Climber are obviously twice (or nearly twice) the size of the Power Lifter’s tendons.

Dr. Tanner Alden, the Rock Climber, explains how the process of ‘Muscle Hypertrophy’ produces a much faster increase in muscle mass than the tendons of that muscle are INITIALLY able to adapt to.

Elbow Injuries On The Rise Globally - Costing Us Billions!

Billions spent on elbow injuries globally, annually

Market research / data-gathering firms giddily announce that Billions of dollars are being spent on elbow injuries, (Tennis Elbow / ‘Lateral Epicondylitis’ in particular) globally, every single year!

And it’s on the rise in both prevalence (more injuries) and treatment costs – projected to reach 10 BILLION dollars annually by 2022!

(But how much of that is spent on “symptom chasing” as opposed to truly treating the underlying injury?)

Ice Age Melting: Why RICE Is Actually Wrong

RICE Protocol Treating Tennis Elbow

A sacred cow of sports medicine, the R.I.C.E. protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) is now on the chopping block.

Even “Doctor RICE” has reversed his position. (Gabe Mirkin, M.D. co author of 'The Sports Medicine Book,' who coined the RICE acronym for sports injury first aid, in the first place, has radically changed his position on icing / Cryotherapy, as well as the 'Rest' recommendation)...
