Symptoms of Tennis Elbow

The symptoms of Tennis Elbow can vary in intensity from person to person from a mild ache to a raging inferno of burning pain.

What are the symptoms of Tennis Elbow?

The most common symptoms are:

  • Tendon pain right at the outer elbow,
  • Stiffness / difficulty bending the elbow
  • Tenderness / soreness and weakness in the muscles
  • And pain at the outer elbow area when picking things up, turning doorknobs and making other gripping and twisting motions.

Serious Symptoms Does Not Necessarily Mean Serious Injury

The really confusing thing, unfortunately, is the level of pain doesn't necessarily have a direct correlation to the severity of the injury... WHAT?...

In other words, just because it hurts like hell doesn't mean you have a massive tear in your tendon, like a lot of people worry about.

(And then they end up being overprotective of it, and resting it too much, which contrary to popular / expert belief does not help it heal - Rest is not the most important thing for tendon healing.)

On the flip side, if the symptoms are very mild it's easy not to take it seriously - which is an all-too-common mistake in the beginning for many Tennis Elbow sufferers, who end up just popping a few pills and icing it while the problem gets incrementally worse.

So, try not to fall into these traps based on how bad your symptoms are:
  1. Being overly protective and "babying" your Tennis Elbow - if there's a lot of pain
  2. Or not taking it seriously and not doing enough to treat it - if there hasn't been much pain
